What We Do

EDUCATION

We provide Wound, Ostomy, and Continence education tailored to meet your individual or institutional needs. As coordinators for the WOCN Wound Treatment Associate (WTA) Course, we have a > 96% pass rate for attendees over the previous 4 years – this course can be accomplished on-site or on-line (online course includes a one day face to face session for practical skill assessment and evaluation). Attendees are provided 24 CEU’s upon successful course completion and meet criteria required in preparation for certification with the WOCNCB (Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse Certification Board).  Successful passing of the WOCNCB WTA Certification exam permits the licensed nurse to use the WTA-C Credentials (Wound Treatment Associate-Certified).  The certification is good for 5 years which at that time the nurse may choose to re-certify if desired.

QUALITY IMPROVEMENT

We assist with improving your Wound, Ostomy and Continence Management through process and policy evaluation and development, medical record audits with plans of action, strategies to improve documentation, supply formulary development, clinical pathway development and education plans.  We provide continuing education presentations granting contact hours for clinicians completing the courses via on-site presentations or webinars.  Topics available for contact hours include:  “Wound Assessment, Etiology, Documentation, and Utilization of Wound Care Products” / “Management of Ulcers of Lower Extremities” / “Ostomy Management.”  Please contact us for additional information and available topics.

CONSULTATION

We provide on-line and/or telephonic consultation for specific wound and ostomy patient situations and concerns, thus assuring access to Best Practice treatment plans for your patients with wounds or ostomies. Consultation includes evidence based recommendations which empowers your clinician to contact the physician/provider for appropriate orders for individual patient care.
